Arrocería Cienfuegos is a rice restaurant located in Santiago. Its design is inspired by images related to the origin of this staple food: the vast landscapes of paddy fields and the sensations they invoke. We sought to create a lightweight aesthetic tied to the concepts of nature, light, and moisture. A natural, pastel palette was chosen: light greens, sky blues, beiges, and earth tones, thus creating a space that evokes a nonexistent geographical location, associated with an oriental atmosphere that transmits calm.
The restaurant concentrates the dining room and kitchen into a single large space, where everything is within view. It brings together wooden furniture, plants, and an abundance of light. At the opposite end of the open kitchen, wallpaper was hung to evoke natural freshness. In addition, a garden was built in a light-green tiled perimeter, which delimits the borders of the dining room precisely but lightly. Above this area, some thirty basket-like lamps illuminate the space, projecting their different weaves onto the diners. In addition, there are textiles and mats made of different plant fibers incorporated into chairs, lamps, and decorative elements, all of which increase the play on textures.
