The design of Apartment G. was developed based on the owner’s two occupations: screenwriting and painting. Keeping this in mind, we worked with a neutral color palette that was predominantly earthtones, beige, and light hues, in order to put together a warm and welcoming atmosphere where one could live as well as work.
Given that reading and manual labor have a prominent place in this home, spaces were devised in accordance to these activities. The living and dining area is encompassed by bookshelves. The dining room was thought up as a dual space where writing would also take place. Meanwhile, the design concept of the living room was to create a space that was, above all, comfortable, ideal for socializing as well as relaxing, watching films, and reading. As far as painting is concerned, we created a practical, easy to clean, and well illuminated workshop-like space, which could be stained and spattered, and where materials could be unfurled.
