La Estación

2011 |Santiago, Chile

For this restaurant, located in an old house in a traditional area of Vitacura, we sought to create an interior design that would reveal the original use of the space, a family residence, and that would speak to the passage of time.

With the goal of making this gaze into the past evident, we applied an aged effect on some walls and installed classic wallpaper, which we then removed in sections in order to make the space look lived-in and worn.

The decorative objects are mainly utilitarian and are related to the act of dining: tablecloths, silverware, and antique plates that we acquired at flea markets in Chile and Argentina.

The result is an atemporal, unpretentious locale, a warm and somewhat nostalgic meeting place.

“The sensation of meeting in a place with several past lives, and for that place to remind us of a home dining room, was the starting point in approaching our design for this project.”
