Museum Exhibition “Marilyn”

2016 |Santiago, Chile

For the 90th birthday celebration of the iconic Marilyn Monroe, the Santiago Museum of Fashion organized the exhibition entitled “Marilyn”, seeking to introduce the public to an often unseen face of the icon: her more intimate and intellectual side.

The Museum of Fashion has the largest private collection of the actress’ belongings in the world, of which more than 200 were shown in the exhibit, including personal articles, books, records, awards, decorations, utensils from her home, and emblematic wardrobes.

The museological proposal for this exhibit was put in the hands of our office, and focused on allowing spectators to get a close look at these intimate objects. The articles exhibited were in large part displayed alongside photographs or press clippings of the era that told the story around them and their relation to the private person behind the iconic actress.

A more intimate side of Marilyn Monroe was revealed; her constant motivation to learn and study, her intellectual concerns, her cultural development, and her relatability while in the intimacy of her home.

“The fervor that Marilyn caused among her admirers is testament to the innumerable letters they wrote her constantly.”
