Pinpilinpausha is a restaurant of Basque cuisine with almost 80 years of history, one of the oldest in Santiago. It began in the very center of the city in 1940 and was relocated in the 1990s to its current home on Isidora Goyenechea Street in Las Condes.
One of the main purposes of this remodeling project was to be able to offer Pinpilinpaushaās customers a more contemporary version of this classic, beloved restaurant.
It was necessary to keep the original spirit present, which is marked by family tradition and the Basque spirit, and at the same time, to refresh the aesthetic in order to attract a new clientele that values interior design as part of the experience of dining out.
The remodeling was carried out in stages in order not to interfere with the establishmentās functioning. The large surface area and configuration of the spaces made that possible. Therefore we were able to work on numerous salons individually, seeking to generate an original mix between classic elements, the Basque aesthetic, and our own vision. We maintained many of the restaurantās pieces, such as hand-painted ceramics and paintings from Basque Country, and combined them with new furnishings and objects for a classic-contemporary result.
We renewed the color palette of the interiors, and we also incorporated new forms of seating that mark a great difference in the visitorsā experience.
The different wall and ceiling treatments give each space its own unique seal. The front of the building alludes to a winter garden and proposes a blurred boundary between outside and in. As one advances further into the restaurant, the salons become more and more formal. We also added a bar, an element that, until then, Pinpilinpausha had lacked.
The old supplier entrance was remodeled to become an attractive and functional terrace. Of all the spaces, this is the freest, oriented toward a young crowd.
